Today’s quote comes to us from that Blast From The Past, James Carville, who – with all the freshness of last year’s leftover matzoh meal, has resurfaced to try his hand at protecting Hillary Clinton from her own words and actions.
Here is his explanation of why Ms. Clinton’s email scandal is so “beneficial” to her (that’s right, beneficial….keep reading):
“This is not just spin, I actually believe this: This is good because it reminds everybody what it is. This happened and it’s never going to stop because it’s what I call the Clinton rule. There’s a rule that applies to the Clintons, and then there’s a press rule that applies to everybody else.”
Yep. You got that right, James. Hillary should be able to ride her email behavior right into the oval office. Honest.
The scary part is that, during the Clinton years (we’re talking Hubby Bubba here, not Hillary), this utter nonsense would have flown. Media would have been happy to buy it, because media were willing to buy anything James Carville and his fellow Clinton apologist Lanny Davis were selling about the Clintons, who could do no wrong.
But, as Scarlett O’Hara was fond of saying, tomorrow is another day. And now, the same media which would have found a way to rationalize Hillary Clinton’s email scandal during her husband’s years in the oval office, are making her out to be, at best, amazingly naive, at worst, a flat-out liar….and, either way, a clumsy, arrogant, bloviater, incapable of defending her own actions.
Which leaves her with what? James Carville? Sneering out the same tired, old, dishonest, sarcastic baloney that worked for Bill Clinton 20 years ago, as if it will do the same for Hillary in 2015?
I award James Carville Quote Of The Day honors for showing, with such clarity, what truck drivers all over America already know and Hillary Clinton, with over a year and a half to election day 2016, is going to find out very soon: if you’re going on a long trip, it is not a good idea to rely on retreads.
