This is an odd Quote Of The Day installment. Because I am not awarding the honor to the quote\’s source.
The source of today\’s winning entry is that veritable fountain of laughable quotes, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
This is what she said on Bll Maher\’s “Real Time” show last night:
“Itwould be very important for the Democrats to retain control of theSenate. Civilization as we know it todaywould be in jeopardy if the Republicans win the Senate.”
(And then, after Maher complained that Democrats will suffer at the polls this year because “Nobodycomes about to vote to say \’thank you.\’ Thepeople who get health care now, they\’re the people least likelyto vote. The people who come out to vote are the angry people.”, Pelosi continued):
“That\’strue. Fear is a motivator, and we are notfear-mongers. The Democrats are messengers of hope, and that\’s whatwe will continue to be.”
Let\’s see: seconds after warning that a Republican victory will end civilization as we know it today, Pelosi assures us that she and her fellow Democrats do not engage in fear-mongering.
I will not award Quote Of The Day honors to Ms. Pelosi for demonstrating, again – as her Senate counterpart Harry Reid regularly does – that, with today\’s mainstream media as it is, a Democrat political leader can say virtually anything, no matter how stupid, contradictory, imbecilic, insulting or flatulent, and get away with it.
I am awarding the honors to however many people are left out there (and I do mean “left”) who still take anything Nancy Pelosi says seriously.
People capable of contorting common sense that completely deserve an award. Maybe not an award they would proudly display, but an award nonetheless. And here it is.
Congratulations to you all.
