This chart should be instructive for anyone who tries to sell you on the idea that it\’s only those mouth-breathing right wingers who are against President Obama\’s handling of the immigration issue:
In reading those data, please be aware that they were gathered June 5 – 8 – which is before the news of massive numbers of illegal minors shuttling through Mexico into the USA became generally known. This means that, almost certainly, the same question today would yield an even higher level of disapproval.
Either there are one helluva lot of mouth-breathing right wingers out there….or maybe it\’s that, other than the people who demand we have no borders, and the left wing in general, no one wants a tidal wave of illegal aliens flooding into our country.
Let\’s remember, this is a poll. And polls can be wrong. But a) if this one is wrong, it is as likely to be understating the disapproval level as it is of overstating it, and b) if it is anywhere near correct, Democrats in competitive races better think about racing away from President Obama this year – then hoping against hope that the voters believe their sudden changes of heart.
It won\’t be an easy sell.
