Today\’s paragraph comes to us from former left wing radical-turned-conservative, David Horowitz.
I acknowledge it is a little more than a single paragraph — but on this one I\’m willing to make allowances:
Fourteenyears after 9/11 it is tragically clear that President Bush was rightabout the threat we faced and Democrats suicidally wrong. The 9/11attacks were indeed a salvo in the war Islamists have declared on usbut even now, fourteen years later, Democrats still want to regardsuch attacks as acts of individual criminality, and deal with themthrough the legal justice system, affording American rights to thosewho want to destroy American rights. Why, you may ask yourself,is the Boston Marathon bomber going to be tried in a criminal courtof law, where he will be able to make propaganda for his causeunderwritten by his victims? Because Democrats want it that way.It shows we’re superior to everybody else.
Ninedays after 9/11 President Bush addressed both houses of Congressto outline his response to the terror attacks. This is what hesaid about states that harbor Islamic terrorists, like Yemen andSyria:
“Wewill pursue nations that provide aid or safe haven to terrorism. Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make. Either youare with us, or you are with the terrorists. From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will beregarded by the United States as a hostile regime.”
Whenthe president had completed his remarks, these were precisely thesentences that were singled out for attack by the political left.
To which I reply, yep. You got that right.
The only thing Mr. Horowitz left out is that, before invading Iraq, President Bush went to the United Nations…and went through congress, where he got approval to do so – something President Obama apparently does not consider necessary at all.
And when Bush did so, on the premise that saddam had WMD\’s, he got support from an awful lot of people who, today, you would swear must have been 100% against the war in Iraq right from the start. Hillary Clinton and John Kerry immediately come to mind, and there are a bucketful more just like them.
But, then again, when did fraud and hypocrisy ever prevent someone from serving in congress?
