THE PARAGRAPHS OF THE DAY

Today’s paragraphs come to us from john blake, writing for CNN.com.

They are not pretty, they are astoundingly negative and insulting, and they are based, in large part, on projection and misinformation.

Here you go:

Blame President Trump for his tepid moral response. Call the neo-Nazis and white nationalists thugs. Fill your Facebook and Twitter accounts with moral outrage.

But the tragedy that took place in Charlottesville this month could not have occurred without the tacit acceptance of millions of ordinary, law-abiding Americans who helped create such a racially explosive climate, some activists, historians and victims of extremism say.

It’s easy to focus on the angry white men in paramilitary gear who looked like they were mobilizing for a race war in the Virginia college town. But it’s the ordinary people — the voters who elected a reality TV star with a record of making racially insensitive comments, the people who move out of the neighborhood when people of color move in, the family members who ignore a relative’s anti-Semitism — who give these type of men room to operate, they say.

That was the twisted formula that made the Holocaust and Rwanda possible and allowed Jim Crow segregation to survive: Nice people looked the other way while those with an appetite for violence did the dirty work, says Mark Naison, a political activist and history professor at Fordham University in New York City.

If youwant to know why those white racists now feel so emboldened, it may help to look at all the ordinary people around you, your neighbors, your family members, your leaders.

But first, start by looking at yourself.

If you want to read more, you’ll have to use the link.  This is as much as my stomach can take.

See, it’s not just Donald Trump who is a complete and total scumbag in every way, it’s all those millions of people who are OK with the things that make Donald Trump a complete and total scumbag in every way.  Including, you and everyone you know, Whitey.

You deplorables, you.

And the “antifa” and blacklivesmatter anarchists and thugs?  Not a bad word to say about them.

Saints all.

This guy doesn’t even get his movie example right.  No, john blake, it wasn’t a police officer it was the Captain (Renault), no he wasn’t pocketing his casino winnings while saying he was shocked about the gambling, they were handed to him afterwards, and no, they weren’t handed to him on the sly, the casino employee put them in his hand right in the middle of the cafe, saying “your winnings, sir”, with Captain Renault saying “Oh, thank you very much”.

Three mistakes in maybe a 10 second movie clip, and we’re supposed to take him seriously about Charlottesville?  Give me a break.

I award john blake Paragraphs Of The Day “honors” for showing us exactly why – by being a part of why – CNN has fallen to its current level.

And for showing us exactly the kind of race-based stereotyping that drove so many voters to Donald Trump in the first place.
