This story is told in two excerpts.
The first is from Leo Rennert\’s June 3 article at americanthinker.com:
Palestinianterrorism got a boost from President Obamas decision to continueto work with — and finance — a “unity” governmentthat includes Hamas, a certified terrorist group dedicated toIsrael\’s extermination.
Withone swoop, Obama undercut Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu\’sstrategy of isolating the new Palestinian regime, while disregardingHamas\’s blood-soaked record of thousands of rocket attacks againstthe Jewish state.
TheWhite House and the State Department were quick to argue that it wasworth to wait and see whether the “unity” government hatched byPalestinian President Mahmoud Abbas would conform to basic U.S.parameters for keeping the peace process alive — recognition ofIsrael and renunciation of violence. But that\’s already beenrejected by Hamas, which insists on a single Palestinian state fromthe Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. Hamas also defendsuse of violence — “resistance” is its favorite euphemism -to achieve its objectives.
The second is from Jack Khoury\’s June 13 article at Ha\’aretz, a left wing Israeli news source:
Hamas calledon Palestinians Friday to declare an intifada throughout the WestBank and to confront Israeli “forces of Occupation,” beit through a popular uprising or individual action.
HusamBadran, Hamas\’ international spokesman in Gaza, posted Friday onFacebook calling for Palestinians in the West Bank to impede theIsraeli army\’s movement around the West Bank, particularly in theHebron area, where three Israeli teens are feared kidnapped.
“Thisis a chance to widen the sphere of resistance and return the WestBank to its natural place as the focal point of the struggle andresistance,” Badran was quoted as saying on Hamas\’ officialwebsite, under the headline “Hamas calls on West Bank citizens to declareintifada.”
A blind person could have seen this coming. How could Barack Obama and his people not have?
Or is it that they did, and this is just fine with them?
That is an ugly question to ask. But, after 5 1/2 years of occasional meaningless words in support of Israel contrasted with actions which show little other than disdain, maybe it is time for someone to at least bring it up.
hamas\’s call for an intifada screams for condemnation by the Obama administration and removal of support for the Palestinian Arab “unity” government.
When will this be happening?
