The Trump Kangaroo Kourt trial’s testimony phase is now over. What remains is summations by both sides’ legal teams and jury instructions.
It is Tuesday, about midday. Memorial Day weekend is coming up. It starts on Saturday. Recognizing that a lot of people start it on Friday, however, let’s say that it is 2 1/2 days from now.
But the judge has decided to dismiss the jurors for the rest of the week and through Memorial day, reconvening next Tuesday – a week from now.
And for all that time the jury members are not sequestered.
That means, for a week, every member of the jury will have full access to their friends, neighbors, acquaintances, etc. to talk about this trial and hear everyone else’s opinions.
Does this make any sense? I’m no lawyer and I don’t know a thing about court procedure. But I do know that it means Trump will continue to be denied the ability to campaign for an even more extended amount of time (which the judge, his daughter, the Manhattan District Attorney and New York State’s Attorney General – all demonstrably anti-Trump – will be thrilled about).
I don’t understand the hold-up. And I don’t know whether it can give the judge an opportunity, next week, to ask the jury if they discussed the case, find out they did, and say “well, that screws things up so we have to start all over again with a new jury”….which would put Trump in court for another month or so further on in the campaign season.
Maybe you do. If so, please advise.
