ObamaCare lives. TrumpCare – at present, in its current form – does not.
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan pulled the TrumpCare bill on Friday, because enough Republicans – albeit for far different reasons – were joining Democrats in voting against it to insure that it could not pass.
Democrats voted against it because they are committed to ObamaCare, even as they watch it implode, as premiums continue to soar while fewer insurance providers offer it and fewer doctors honor it. That, and the fact that Democrats, it seems likely, will vote against anything that Donald Trump supports.
Most of the Republican opposition to TrumpCare is from the opposite direction. They oppose ObamaCare, but feel that the TrumpCare alternative was a watered-down version of it rather than the repeal-and-replace they were promised.
This leaves the unworkable monstrosity called ObamaCare in place, and makes Trump & Co. look ridiculous – neither of which is good news for Donald Trump and Republicans, which is why you can bet this will quickly be reworked and resubmitted.
