Now that the Crimean “referendum” (armed troops at the polling stations, transparent ballot boxes so that each person\’s results can be seen) has taken place, and is being used to justify Putin stealing this part of the Ukraine and annexing it to Russia, President Obama has made a statement.
He is freezing the assets of a few Russian diplomats. And threatens further sanctions will take place if Russia does more of the same in the future.
Vladimir Putin takes over a chunk of the Ukraine – which the USA, among other nations, is supposed to prevent – and Barack Obama makes it harder for a few people to go to the bank.
I can hear Putin – and his pals in places like China, Iran and Syria – laughing from here.
Can Barack Obama possibly think Vladimir Putin cares about this? That it would in any way inform his actions?
Better to have said nothing, than to have the President of the United States expose his weakness and ineptitude for all the world to see…as if the world hadn\’t already seen and noted it over and over again since he took office.
Three more years of this nightmare. I hope we can survive it.
