Excerpted from Elad Benari\’s article at israelnationalnews.com:
WendySherman, undersecretary of state for political affairs and the headof the American negotiation team to the nuclear talks between Iranand six world powers (P5+1), said Saturday that the goal is to reacha permanent agreement with Iran by July 20.
Inwhat appeared to be a warning to Israel, she said the United Stateshopes no one will interfere with the talks.
“Wedon\’t enter these talks with rose-colored glasses and we don\’t knowyet if we can resolve this diplomatically,” Sherman said, according to Haaretz.
“Itwill be critical that our negotiators and partners have the space toget this done diplomatically. The talks with Iran will be very hardand we can\’t afford to make it even harder.”
Haaretzalsoquoted her as having stressed that Iran\’s nuclear program wouldhave to be “limited, discreet, constrained, monitored andverified.”
Ifthe Iranian nuclear enrichment program does not meet these conditionsthere will be no agreement, Sherman added.
Shenoted that the United States “would like there to be zeroenrichment” but that is an “unlikely” expectation.
– You Israelis have to back off. After cutting a “deal” with Iran last year – in which we freed them to again conduct billions and billions of dollars of international trade in return for an “agreement” it\’s leaders have told us that we do not understand and they will not abide by (in other words, they got everything and we got nothing) – we want to build on this great success and make an even bigger deal now.
-Say, what\’s wrong with you Jews, anyway? All Iran is doing is building a nuclear weapons capacity so that it can make good on its oft-stated promise to obliterate Israel, presumably killing every Jew in it. Can\’t you be a good sport about this? Can\’t you take a joke?
Every time I think about the fact that, in aggregate, Jews – most of whom, at least on paper, support Israel – voted for the administration perpetrating this insanity, I don\’t know whether to be more angry, frustrated or filled with pity for them.
I think I\’ll do all three…..as I count the seconds until this nightmare of an administration is gone.
