Hadid had previously worked aspublic relations officer for Ittijah, A virulently anti-Israel, pro-PalestinianNGO. According to NGO monitor, Ittijah\’s head, AmirMakhoul, was sentenced to nine years imprisonment for spying for Hezbollah. Thegroup endorses the anti-Semitic Boycott Divestment & Sanctions (BDS)movement, propagates the repugnant “Apartheid” calumny and supportsthe so-called Palestinian “Right of Return,” a common moniker used by Israel\’senemies in lieu of calls for outright destruction of the JewishState to make the concept genocide more palatable to Westernaudiences. Hadid\’s past high-level association with Ittijah shouldhave at the very least, raised alarm bells at theNewYork Times and should have constituted sufficient cause to precludeher from coming anywhere near the Israel Desk.
But there\’s more onHadid. In an article entitled “My Israel, MyPalestine“ Hadid is quoted as saying “I can\’t look atIsraelis anymore. I can\’t separate your average Israeli citizen from theoccupation, I don\’t want to be friends with them, I don\’t want to talk tothem.” She is further quoted as saying, “To this day I\’d never say that Iam anti-anybody. But did my objectivity get thrown out the window? Yes, becauseI had an Israeli gun pointing at me, not a Palestinian one.” So there youhave it. Hadid unabashedly acknowledges that her objectivity has been tossedout the window and that goes a long way in explaining why the New YorkTimes hiredher.
