I feel like a million bucks! Let metell you why.
As you may remember, last month Iblogged about USAA, the insurancecompany which specializes in covering military families.
I pointed out that its “Thank you, daddy” TV commercial, in which family members thanked fathers andhusbands for their military service, was terribly remiss in excludingwomen (about 15% of today\’s military – and they are absolutelyinvaluable).
I quickly received a response from USAAsaying, in part, that “We have listened to your feedback and arereleasing a new version of the ad this fall.”
Well, I just saw USAA\’s new commercial. And there it was: a little boy saying “Thank you mom, forprotecting my future”.
I don\’t know how much I had to do withthis – though, given the rapidity of USAA\’s response to me and whatit said, I have to believe I was at least somewhere in the mix. But,regardless of whether I had anything to do with it, I am thrilledthat this oversight has been corrected!
Now you know why I feel as good as Ido. I hope every woman who has served this country and sees the newUSAA commercial feels the same!
