Do you remember the name Daniel Ellsberg?
Ellsberg was the Rand Corporation military analyst who released what came to be known as “The Pentagon Papers” – which detailed covert activities of the government during the Vietnam War. Ellsberg was charged under The Espionage Act, but eventually the charges were dismissed. He remained a controversial figure right up to his death last year at the age of 92.
Now we have a situation where Joe Biden’s hand-picked Attorney General, Merrick Garland, has released an admittedly edited version of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s interview with President Joe Biden concerning his possession of classified documents – documents he accumulated and kept while a Senator and Vice President, without the power President Donald Trump had to declassify such documents at will.
But Garland, defying congress, has refused to release the audio tapes – which would show what Biden actually said rather than what Garland and his associates’ edited transcript claims he said.
Will there be a new Daniel Ellsberg? Will one of the people who has access to that audio tape take the plunge and come forth with it – even at risk of being frontally attacked by Garland and his weaponized Department of Justice?
If that were to happen; if that audio tape were to become available, what effect would it have on the Biden presidential run? Given the full-bore effort to block the audio from being heard, I am guessing it would summarily end Mr. Biden’s re-election bid.
Why? Well, let’s think logically: if the audio tape parallels the transcript – i.e. it shows Biden to be lucid/in full control of himself – Garland and his people would have immediately made it public, because if all the audio shows is what the transcript says, it would be clear evidence that, his opponents’ claims notwithstanding, Biden is cognitively capable.
Therefore, the one and only reason the audio tape is being withheld is that will show Biden in a very different, far more negative light. And, quite possibly, because it will show that the “editing” Garland admits to was not just to eliminate a could of ers and ums, but to hide Biden’s level of cognitive decline from the public.
Will the new Daniel Ellsberg please step up and come forward? And if that person does step up and come forward, will our mainstream media honestly report what the audio tape tells us?
They had no problem doing so in 1971, when Daniel Ellsberg released “The Pentagon Papers”. I seriously wonder if most media venues would be as quick to do so today.
