As I am sure you know, there was a disastrous earthquake in Nepal yesterday. As I write this, an estimated 2,200 are dead, with the number sure to rise far beyond this already-horrific number. Countless people are homeless and countless buildings are either destroyed or teetering on compromised foundations and uninhabitable.
My observation: If this had happened not in Nepal, but in Nebraska, or New Mexico, or Nevada, or New Jersey – would the extreme branch of environmentalists who seem to have overtaken the earth sciences be blaming it on fracking? And/or global warming? And would mainstream media dutifully be publishing their every word as if it had come down from Olympus in a chariot of fire?
Think about it.
