I am not going to put up excerpts from Roger Cohen\’s op-ed in yesterday\’s New York Times, titled “Israel\’s Bloody Status Quo”. You can use the link I\’ve provided and read it if you care to.
If you do read it, you will find a column which criticizes all sides and all leaders involved in the Israel-Gaza conflict, but is far more heavily biased against Israel (no surprise at all, this being the New York Times).
Cohen spends an entire column accusing everyone of either stupidity, deviousness, opportunism or intentional killing for the sake of killing, derides them all for not having any serious peace plan……….and offers exactly no peace plan himself.
The closest he comes is to suggest that Jews study the nakba (the Arab word for “catastrophe”, which is used to describe the creation of Israel), Arabs study the holocaust, and they all read a few lines of poetry he finds insightful.
Yep, Roger, that\’s the ticket to peace right there. Jews should learn that Arabs despise the existence of Israel and consider it their land (I\’m sure no Jews are aware of this), and Arabs should learn that millions of Jews died at the hands of a non-Arab mass murderer (which they not only know, but many of them celebrate).
That leaves the poetry. But, since I doubt they will find a poetic line or two the pathway to peace, let me offer a poem of my own:
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Your column is useless
To Arab and Jew.
Have a nice day.
