THE MIDDLEBURY INDOCTRINATION CENTER

Do you recall what happened in March, when students who dared to think that Middlebury (Vermont) College was a place they were supposed to think, invited political scientist Charles Murray to speak?

The event never came off, because Middlebury’s academic brownshirts made good and sure no one who came to hear what Mr. Murray had to say would be allowed to do so.

But that wasn’t enough for the brownshirts.  Not content with fascism, they decided violence was also necessary – as detailed in an article in the Addison County (Vermont) Independent:

As (Professor Allison) Stanger, Murray and a college administrator left McCullough Student Center last evening following the event, they were “physically and violently confronted by a group of protestors,” according to Bill Burger, the college’s vice president for communications and marketing.

Burger said college public safety officers managed to get Stanger and Murray into the administrator’s car.

“The protestors then violently set upon the car, rocking it, pounding on it, jumping on and try to prevent it from leaving campus,” he said. “At one point a large traffic sign was thrown in front of the car. Public Safety officers were able, finally, to clear the way to allow the vehicle to leave campus.

“During this confrontation outside McCullough, one of the demonstrators pulled Prof. Stanger’s hair and twisted her neck,” Burger continued. “She was attended to at Porter Hospital later and (on Friday) is wearing a neck brace.”

That’s quite a show of college spirit, isn’t it?
“Students” violently attacking someone for having a point of view which differs from their own.  Adolf and Benito would have been proud as punch.

So, you may be wondering, what happened to the proud fascists who did this?

Well here’s the news, excerpted from John Leo’s piece at mindingthecampus.org – one of the several websites that have sprung up to detail the insanity that has become typical at our colleges and universities:

Those of you waiting to see the decisive smackdown of the Middlebury demonstrators who thought it was a good idea to shut down the Charles Murray talk, well, here it is: a letter will be placed in the files of some 30 students, and it won’t be removed until the end of the school year.

If any student commits another offense before then, the letter will be left in his or her file. (NO, NO, NOT THAT.) Not to worry, though. It’s not a real punishment and it won’t be seen by anyone unless it falls out of the folder and a janitor spots it.

It isn’t as if the students pursued Murray out of the building, stomped his car and put a professor briefly in the hospital, and in the opinion of some, came close to putting Murray’s life in danger. No wait, that’s exactly what the students did. No wonder Middlebury gave it to them with both barrels: a temporary letter that nobody will ever read, just what every campus delinquent fears most.

Translation:  no punishment at all.  Free ride.  No reason to hold back for even one second, the next time a conservative speaker dares to show up on campus.

This means Middlebury College, whatever it once was, is not an institute of higher education.  It is a far left, fascist indoctrination center.

And to the folks who pay tuition at Middlebury – including room and board, about $61,000 this year?  This is what you’re getting for your money.

I hope it doesn’t break you.  Because when these left wing robots go out into the world, you probably will need plenty more for bail.

  • The long march through the institutions (German: der lange Marsch durch die Institutionen)
is a slogan coined by student activist Rudi Dutschke to describe his strategy for establishing the conditions for revolution:

subverting society by infiltrating institutions such as the professions.
