THE LIE OF THE YEAR

“Every day between now and November, the American people are gonna know that the only reason the border is not secure is Donald Trump and his MAGA Republican friends.”: Joe Biden, yesterday.

I know it is only February.  And we have an entire presidential campaign to come, most likely between a bloviating bigmouth and a serial liar .  But it is going to be hard to top this one.

Tell you what:  let’s look at the number of crossings by year.

First, the Trump years – keeping in mind that, due in large part to a surge of illegals in 2019, Trump was building walls, and had successfully gotten Mexico to agree to a “hold them in your country, not ours” policy which, appears to have stopped the surge in its tracks:

2017:  310,531

2018:  404,142

2019:  895,501

2020:  405,036

And now the Biden years – after Biden, in a series of executive orders, undid every initiative Trump put in place to stem the flow of illegals:

2021:  1,662,167

2022:  2,214,652

2023:  2,063,092

Do the math and you will find that, in Trump’s four years as President, the total was 2,015,510 – an average of 503,877 a year.

By contrast, in three years under Biden it is, so far, 5,939,911 – an average of 1,979,970 a year.

That’s almost four times as many illegals under Biden as there were under Trump.

But, despite those numbers, which make things crystal clear…

…for three years, Biden’s lying Secretary of Homeland Security, alejandro mayorkas, has been looking us in the eye and telling us our border is secure.  And Vice President Kamala Harris – who Biden, with great fanfare, appointed the “Border Czar” – has done exactly nothing.  Zero.  Zip.  Nada.

And then there are the co-conspirators:  i.e. most of what passes for our mainstream media.

Have they called out Biden/mayorkas/Harris big-time for this unprecedented surge in illegals?  Have they demanded action?  Have they supported the efforts of, say, Governor Abbott of Texas to stem the flow of illegals – by the millions – into his state or attacked him for it?  Have they ridiculed the Governors of so-called “sanctuary states” and Mayors of so-called “sanctuary cities” for crying and bitching when illegals have been sent to their states/cities – i.e. when they didn’t have to just talk a good game but actually deal with the issue?

There is a lot of blame to go around here.  And it is true that things could have been done better on both sides.  But the claim that this problem is because of Donald Trump and not Joe Biden is so jaw-droppingly bogus that it is hard to imagine a bigger one can be told.

Look, I concede that nothing is forever.  Maybe, somehow, in some way, someone will tell a bigger lie this year than Biden did when he blamed this on Trump.  But, so far, no one has come close (and it’s not like lies haven’t been told).

A bigger lie than this one will truly be something to behold.  I’ll let you know if I can find one.  But don’t wait up for it.
