THE LATEST NBC/WALL ST. JOURNAL POLL

What do you say about a poll that is so bad for Barack Obama that even NBC can\’t figure out how to sugar-coat it?

I watched the Today Show this morning, and when they reported on the latest NBC News/Wall St. Journal poll, they didn\’t even try.

How could they, when the results include these findings:

-41% approve of the job Barack Obama is doing and 53% disapprove – 41% being the lowest approval rating Mr. Obama has ever had in this poll (tied with his March, 2014 showing);

-Ditto for his handling of the economy, at 41% approve and 54% disapprove;

-Foreign policy, at 37% approve/57% disapprove, is not tied with anything – it is the lowest he has ever been.  And – significantly – this study was conducted June 11 – 15…before a lot of the bad news about Iraq hit the media;.

-When asked whether they would be more likely to vote for a Democrat or Republican for congress, 35% said Democrat versus 31% saying Republican.  But before the Democrats in the house take comfort in this finding, please note that a) Democrats are oversampled in this study by 31% to 23%, and b) in June of 2010, when Republicans made mincemeat of Democrats in the midterm elections, the same question was answered as 34% – 31%, virtually the same as now.

-Regarding President Obama\’s overall competency, 50% say he is competent versus 50% saying he is not.  Last year it was 57% competent vs. 43%.  Again, this poll was taken before we got most of the bad news about Iraq;

-When asked whether things have gotten better, stayed the same, or gotten worse over the past year, 15% say things have gotten better versus 41% who say they have gotten worse (43% say they are about the same, but we don\’t know if that means good or bad).

If these data are correct – and keeping in mind that Iraq is a disaster, the IRS scandal is worsening by the day, the VA scandal is blowing up, the tidal wave of illegal aliens is a fiasco, and the Benghazi hearings are coming up – is there any doubt that, other than the dwindling number of places where Mr. Obama is still strong (which would vote Democrat anyway), he will be a major albatross around the necks of Democrat office-seekers?

Count on them running from Mr. Obama like antelopes running from a hungry lion.
