“Justice Democrats” is a far left group aligned with the Democrat Party.
At some point in the near future I will post a few of the emails I’ve received from this group – which make people like ilhan omar and alexandria ocasio-cortez look like moderates by comparison.
But today I will feature (if that’s the appropriate word) this group’s latest email, which concerns this group’s effort to remove a Democrat incumbent congressperson, for his “crime” of supporting Israel.
Here it is:
Our next major fight against AIPAC — the far-right megadonor-funded, pro-Israel lobby — is happening in New York’s 13th congressional district.
Out-of-touch, corporate Democrat Rep. Adriano Espaillat currently represents NY-13. His biggest financial backer? AIPAC.
Since 2011, Espaillat has taken more than $186,000 from AIPAC. In exchange, he has:
❌ Stayed silent on the Israeli government’s genocide in Gaza
❌ Refused to sign on to the only legislation calling for a ceasefire
❌ Refused to sign on to legislation calling for an arms embargo
❌ Voted to send billions of dollars worth of bombs and weapons to Israel
Darializa Avila Chevalier, on the other hand, was a lead organizer of the pro-Palestine encampment at Columbia University in 2023-2024, standing in solidarity with Palestinians and urging Columbia to divest its endowment from companies profiting from Israel’s genocide and apartheid system.
And when her friend and fellow organizer Mahmoud Khalil was kidnapped by ICE, their representative, Espaillat, just said he ‘trusts’ Trump to follow the law. Darializa, on the other hand, organized and advocated for his release.
This race is a real chance to replace a genocide-enabling Democrat with a progressive champion for peace, and AIPAC knows it! They will spend as much as possible between now and the June primary to stop us.
How’s that for Israel (and, you can bet, Jew) hatred? If this doesn’t put an ear-to-ear smile on incoming New York City Mayor zohran mamdani, nothing will.
Could darializa avila chevalier actually win here? Well, consider the fact that NY-13 is majority female, majority Hispanic and low-income – exactly the people who elected AOC over a more moderate Democrat. So the answer is yes, that is a possibility.
I would love, at this point, to say that this in no way represents the larger Democrat Party; that moderate Democrats are falling all over each other to condemn this no-experience Israel-hating leftist. But, unless I am missing something, I have yet to see any such thing.
Does that mean the Democrat Party is, if not completely on board, at the very least comfortable with the darializa avila chevaliers of their party? It’s hard not to conclude that it is.
Obviously, we’ll keep an eye on how things progress in this district. And our ears open in the (admittedly diminished) hope that, at some point, the larger Democrat Party SAYS something about it.
