The inflation number for August is out.
Inflation is at 2.9%. Slightly higher than last month’s 2.7%….but still lower than the 3.0%-and-rising number Trump inherited from whoever was running the presidency during Biden’s years in office.
I’m am waiting for the huge inflation blowup that was supposed to happen because of Trump’s tariff policy…but hasn’t happened yet.
Oh, one more thing: as I write this, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is slightly over 46,000. If it stays anywhere near there at the close, it will give us a new all-time high – above the current all-time high of 45,636 which was set on August 28th.
So, as of now, inflation has not increased and the Dow, to say the very least, has not crashed.
I keep thinking that, at some point, more of the doomsayers who assured us Trump’s tariffs would quickly create both an inflation blow-up and a stock market crash will have to acknowledge they just might have been wrong. But so far most have not.
I wonder if they realize what fools they are making of themselves.
