The latest inflation data just came out.
In December, the inflation rate stayed at 2.7%. For the year, inflation averaged 2.6%.
How does that stack up to the Biden years? And to the Trump years during his first term?
Well, here, from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, are the monthly data. You can see for yourself:
| Year | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec | Ave |

| 2018 | 2.1 | 2.2 | 2.4 | 2.5 | 2.8 | 2.9 | 2.9 | 2.7 | 2.3 | 2.5 | 2.2 | 1.9 | 2.4 |
| 2017 | 2.5 | 2.7 | 2.4 | 2.2 | 1.9 | 1.6 | 1.7 | 1.9 | 2.2 | 2.0 | 2.2 | 2.1 | 2.1 |
As you can see, Trump inherited low inflation from Barack Obama…and kept it low during his first for years (2017-2020).
It jumped way upward during Biden’s years, and then came down to 2.9% in December, 2024 and 3.0 in January 2025 (Biden’s last 2 months).
Since then, inflation – which so many of those “experts” assured us was going to fly high due to Trump’s tariffs, in fact have averaged lower than what Biden left him.
“Expert” opinions notwithstanding, those are the actual data. Make of them what you will.
