Tehran (AFP) – A clearmajority of Iranian legislators said Monday the Islamic republic will notabandon the slogan of “Death to America” despite its July nuclearaccord with world powers.
“Themartyr-nurturing nation of Iran is not at all prepared to abandon the slogan of\’Death to America\’ under the pretext of a nuclear agreement,” 192 membersof Iran\’s 290-seat parliament said in a statement carried by state news agencyIRNA.
They said the slogan,chanted at the weekly Friday prayers in mosques and at protests, had”turned into the symbol of the Islamic republic and all strugglingnations”.
In other words, not only did we cave in on virtually every demand made by Iran, but our payback is that its “parliament”, such as it is, sticks out its chin out (actually drops its drawers and moons us) while assuring the world that “death to America” remains “the symbol of the Islamic republic and all struggling nations”.
Does anyone in his/her right mind think they will hold to this deal – even in its emasculated, eviscerated form?
If so….why?
