THE HILLARY EMAIL DEFENSE: IT’S EVERYONE ELSE

What you are about to read is a portion of Hillary Clinton’s interview with CBS News anchor Scott Pelley.  As a matter of personal hygiene, and because computer monitors are not easy to clean, I sugges you neither eat nor drink while reading it.

PELLEY:  Well, were you extremely careless?

CLINTON:  No I was not.  And neither were the 300 people who sent me that material, Scott.  You know the vast majority of the material was sent to me. It was forwarded to me from professionals, from people, as I said, who had a lot of experience dealing with classified material. I do not think they were careless. I have a very high regard for the professionals in the State Department so I believe that they knew what they were doing and I had no reason to question or second guess their expert opinions.”

PELLEY:  And to the voters who wonder whether you can be trusted with the nation’s secrets, you say what?

CLINTON: I say I have been and I have proven that over the course of my 8 years in the Senate; my four years as Secretary of State, I take classified material seriously and this investigation has proven that I had no intent to do anything wrong, and that there was a way of doing business in the State Department where material was moved in real time because, unlike other departments in the government we often have to respond quickly to a head of state, to a government official, somewhere in the world, to the press, and the people I was relying on, the professionals, the diplomats who were sending me that material, I believe, knew what they were doing and they, too, take classified material seriously….I worked with over 300 people during email exchanges, predominantly in the State Department.  I had no reason to second guess their judgments about the material that they were exchanging and that they would forward or send to me.”

Holy excrement.

To paraphrase that line from the movie “Jerry Maguire”, she had me at “I take classified material seriously”.

Let’s think about this:

-First Hillary Clinton lied about virtually everything relating to these emails for a year – all of which FBI Director James Comey acknowledged in his testimony this week.  (Watch the Q&As between Mr. Comey and, first, Rep.  Jason Chaffetz, then Trey Gowdy) as they systematically ask about every lie, and Comey’s answers acknowledge that she did so.)

-Now, her strategy – and don’t doubt for a minute that this has been discussed, worked out and rehearsed to the nines – is that, “hey, to say I did anything wrong is to say everyone who sent me emails did too”.

In other words, if a head of state or a government official has to communicate with the United States Secretary of State by email, Hillary Clinton is saying they are supposed to know that she is not using a secure email system.

They are supposed to know she is using a non-secure system, located in her basement, that any reasonably talented hacker could get into.  That’s on them.

Therefore, the fact that heads of state and diplomats communicated at all with the United States Secretary of State means that all those heads of states and government officials were just as OK with the non-secure, easily hackable server as Hillary Clinton was.

So, Ms. Clinton tells us, it is as much their doing as it is hers….which means that if you attack Hillary Clinton for her behavior regarding that server, you are also attacking them.  What’s wrong with you anyway?

In other words, Hillary Clinton – again – is talking to voters like we are all mindless idiots.

The sad part?

a) some of us are, and

b) some will consider the idiocy of her statement as irrelevant, because they love Queen Hillary and there’s nothing else to say.  Every lie, every misstep, every failure, every insulting explanation doesn’t count because, well, because she’s Queen Hillary.

Pathetic doesn’t begin to describe it.
