I was watching a political show about a week ago – don\’t remember which one – and listened to Democrat hack Richard Goodstein trying to convince viewers that Hillary Clinton had accomplishments to offer the US voting public. One of them, according to Mr. Goldstein, was that, due to her stint as Secretary of State under Barack Obama, we are held in so much higher esteem around the world than we were during the Bush presidency.
I eventually stopped laughing. But, sad to say, there probably are people out there who, against all facts and logic, believe the world is collectively falling all over itself in its reverence for us during the Obama era.
Just for them (and you too, assuming – I hope – that you are not one of them), I am posting the following excerpt from Maggie Ybarra\’s article in yesterday\’s Washington Times:
DefenseSecretary ChuckHagel has been unable to get Russian Defense Minister SergeiShoigu on the phone amid escalating tension near the country\’sshared border with Ukraine.
ArmyCol. Steve Warren, a Pentagonspokesman, told reporters Friday that Mr.Hagel has been trying to communicate with Russian officials buthas yet to hear back from Mr.Shoigu or anyone else. Pentagonofficials have reached out to Russiaon Mr.Hagel\’s behalf within the past 24 hours, according to Col.Warren.
“Wehave made it clear to the Russians that Secretary Hagelis available for a phone call at any time,” he said. “We havereached out to them and made it very to them that he is willing tospeak to his counterpart there at any time.”
That\’s right. We are held in such high esteem that Russia isn\’t bothering to respond to our Secretary of State\’s calls…even as it apparently prepares to invade a neighboring country.
Bottom line: Hillary Clinton remains just as accomplishmentless as she was, Richard Goodstein remains the political hack he has always been, and people who believe what either of them have to say remain appallingly gullible and uninformed.
Any questions?
