For the last year hezbollah, the Iran-trained, Iran-funded terrorist organization operating out of southern Lebanon, has been firing artillery at northern Israel.
Israel has threatened significant retaliation, but hezbollah has, at least until now, ignored this threat.
Well guess what happened today.
From Laila Bassam’s article for Reuters:
More than 1,000 people, including Hezbollah fighters and medics, were wounded on Tuesday when the pagers they use to communicate exploded across Lebanon, security sources told Reuters.
A Hezbollah official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the detonation of the pagers was the “biggest security breach” the group had been subjected to in nearly a year of war with Israel.
Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah have been engaged in cross-border warfare since the Gaza war erupted last October, the worst such escalation in years.
The Israeli military declined to comment on Reuters enquiries about the detonations.
As of this moment, no one knows for sure how this happened or who was responsible.
But I think we can all make an educated guess.
And if that guess is correct? You’ll pardon me if I feel that congratulations are in order.
It couldn’t have happened to a nicer bunch of victims.
More on this as facts emerge.
