The following exchange between an interviewer and hamas political bureau member osama hamdan, was broadcast on on the Lebanese media outlet Bel Moubashar Online last Wednesday. It should tell you everything you need to know about hamas’ attitude regarding the October 7th attack/slaughter in northern Israel and it’s plans for the immediate future:
Interviewer: If you could go back in time to October 6th, would you still do what you did on October 7th?
hamdan: Why would some people assume we would go back on our acts of resistance?
Interviewer: So you have no regrets?
hamdan: Regret for shattering an entire division of the occupation army?
Interviewer: You said that if the Israelis would make new arrests after all the prisoners are released from (Israeli) prisons, you would carry out another operation. So can you promise another October 7th?
hamdan: I can promise that a war of liberation is coming, not just another October 7th.
Interviewer: In the forseeable future?
hamdan: I do not think it is not far off.

To review:
-The invasion of Israel, slaughter of 1,200 – 1,400 civilians, and taking of well over 200 hostages – mostly women, children and elderly – is characterized as an act of “resistance”. The civilians slaughtered or taken hostage – again, mostly women, children and elderly – are called a division of Israel’s army.
– The result of this attack: Israel invading Gaza, wreaking destruction on much of northern Gaza and now moving south – with the inevitable loss of civilian life – is no problem at all.
-The fact that hamas’ action specifically and directly caused Israel’s subsequent actions (there were no Israeli troops on Gaza’s border poised to enter its territory until after hamas’ slaughter of Israeli civilians), is also no problem. “No regrets”.
-In other words, Gazan civilians who die because of hamas’ action are perfectly fine with its leadership.
-And hamas promises not just another October 7, but worse in the near future.
This, as detailed by hamas’ own leadership, is what Israel is up against.
These are the people Israel is supposed to make peace with?
HOW?
