THE FERGUSON FOLLIES: SOME QUESTIONS I\’D LIKE ANSWERED

If yesterday was an average day in the USA, about 19 Black people were murdered – disproportionately young men like Michael Brown.  And about 18 of them were murdered by other Black people – disproportionately young men like Michael Brown.

If the 15 days since Michael Brown were average, those numbers jump to about 285 Black people being murdered – disproportionately young men like Michael Brown.  And about 265 of them were murdered by other Black people – disproportionately young men like Michael Brown.

But the protests, demonstrations, and demands emanating from the Michael Brown incident continue, as if this one police killing – which may have been fully justified (we do not know what happened – and based on the disparity of descriptions by eye-witnesses, we may never know) – were the problem in Black America.

This leads to some questions I have about the Michael Brown shooting, and what has gone on in Ferguson since then.  Maybe you\’d like answers to them as well.

-Where are the protests, demonstrations and demands about Black street gangs – which account for so great a percentage of Black murders every year?  Where are the demands that they be eradicated from primarily Black neighborhoods?  Where are the pressure groups, the activists, on that?

-And while I\’m asking questions, let me ask where there is any proof whatsoever that Michael Brown was shot because he was Black?  Did any eyewitness claim to hear Officer Wilson call out a racial epithet before opening fire?  Is there any complaint in Wilson\’s 6 year career as a police officer that he acted in a racially prejudiced way?

The answer is no, and no.  No one heard any racial epithet from Wilson, and his 6 year record as a police officer is complaint-free.

-Can anyone say the same about Michael Brown\’s record?  Claiming that he has no adult record is meaningless, since, at 18 years and three months, he had almost no time to accumulate one.  Can we see whether he has a juvenile record?  If there were none, I would think his family and the activists using him as their prop would be thrilled to release it.

The only thing we know for sure is that there is a video surveillance tape of him stealing from a store and physically abusing the store\’s owner.  The next time you see that video, take a good look and decide for yourself whether Brown was acting like this was the first time he stole anything (e.g. looking worriedly back and forth).  It sure didn\’t look that way to me.

-Another question:  Since the one and only component which makes this a racial incident is that Brown was Black and Wilson is White, does it therefore also follow that every other interracial crime, no matter what the circumstances, is a racial incident as well?

And if it does, since there are far more Black on white crimes committed in this country than White on Black crimes, do we not conclude that there is far more racism emanating from Blacks than there is from Whites?

-Another question:  as the demands continue for “Justice For Michael Brown”, where are the demands that there be justice for Darren Wilson?

Wilson has formally been charged with nothing.   And, other than conflicting “eye-witness” reports which contradict each other – including one from Brown\’s pal dorian johnson, who initially lied about being in the store with him and who we know to have a criminal record – there is no evidence Wilson did a thing wrong.  Yet he is hiding from view – my guess is he fears for his life (there have been death threats against a group raising funds for his defense).  When do the media spend their first second worrying about either him or his supporters?

-And one final question:  why are media pushing this to the nth degree every day for two weeks – even though, other than an inconclusive autopsy, there has been no new information about it past the first couple of days?

-How many other murders have taken place since then?  How many interracial murders?  Why are they acting like lickspittle lapdogs for the sharptons and jacksons of the world and building this into some monumental event, instead of  treating it as they have treated the 284 other Black killings since it happened?  Why does this mean everything, and those mean nothing?

How about answers to these questions?  I know I\’d like some.  Wouldn\’t you?
