THE AUGUST 6TH MEMO

In the previous blog, I admonished readers who buy into the premise, touted by Democrats, their Accomplice Media, the human cartoon called Jessie Ventura, and others, that the August 6th, 2001 memo provided to President Bush during his daily briefing, warned him of 9/11.  I wrote that they should “READ the damn thing and see for yourself how non-specific it was about what kind of a threat there was, how an attack would take place and where it would take place.”

Well, let me help you do just that.

Here is the complete memo below – in rust, with my comments in blue:

Clandestine, foreign government, and media reports indicate bin Laden since 1997has wanted to conduct terrorist attacks in the US. Bin Laden impliedin U.S. television interviews in 1997 and 1998 that his followerswould follow the example of World Trade Center bomber Ramzi Yousefand “bring the fighting to America.” Asyou can see, the World Trade Center reference was to a previous attack, not one being planned – and it was mentioned only as an example of what bin laden might do to “bring the fighting to America”; nothing more than a point of reference.

AfterU.S. missile strikes on his base in Afghanistan in 1998, bin Ladentold followers he wanted to retaliate in Washington, according to a– — service.

AnEgyptian Islamic Jihad (EIJ) operative told – – service at the sametime that bin Laden was planning to exploit the operative\’s access tothe U.S. to mount a terrorist strike. When? Where? On what? Nothing specific.

Themillennium plotting in Canada in 1999 may have been part of binLaden\’s first serious attempt to implement a terrorist strike in theU.S.

Convictedplotter Ahmed Ressam has told the FBI that he conceived the idea toattack Los Angeles International Airport himself, but that in —,Laden lieutenant Abu Zubaydah encouraged him and helped facilitatethe operation. Ressam also said that in 1998 Abu Zubaydah wasplanning his own U.S. Attack. On what? When? Where?

Ressamsays bin Laden was aware of the Los Angeles operation. Although BinLaden has not succeeded, his attacks against the U.S. Embassies inKenya and Tanzania in 1998 demonstrate that he prepares operationsyears in advance and is not deterred by setbacks. Bin Ladenassociates surveyed our embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam asearly as 1993, and some members of the Nairobi cell planning thebombings were arrested and deported in 1997. Nothingabout 9/11 here, is there?

AlQaeda members — including some who are U.S. citizens — have residedin or traveled to the U.S. for years, and the group apparentlymaintains a support structure that could aid attacks. Foryears? Bush, at that point, had been President for less than 7months. So who must have let them in? Ever hear Bush detractorstalk about that?

Twoal-Qaeda members found guilty in the conspiracy to bomb our embassiesin East Africa were U.S. citizens, and a senior EIJ member lived inCalifornia in the mid-1990s.

Aclandestine source said in 1998 that a bin Laden cell in New York wasrecruiting Muslim-American youth for attacks.

Wehave not been able to corroborate some of the more sensational threatreporting, such as that from a —- service in 1998 saying that BinLaden wanted to hijack a U.S. aircraft to gain the release of “BlindSheikh” Omar Abdel Rahman and other U.S.-held extremists. Hereis a warning about a possible hijacking (not a crash, a hijacking)…which is uncorroborated, sensational (i.e. seeminglyoutlandish) in nature, is based on three year old intelligence, and involves just one plane – without a hint ofwhich one, or even if the hijacking would take place within our borders versus an international location.  Could this possibly beless relevant to 9/11?

Nevertheless,FBI information since that time indicates patterns of suspiciousactivity in this country consistent with preparations for hijackingsor other types of attacks, including recent surveillance of federalbuildings in New York. Suspicious activity forhijackings or other types of attacks(again,no specific attack method) – andsurveillance of federal buildings in New York (the World Trade Centerwas not – repeat, not –a federal building; it was one of the many commercial buildings in New York with federal offices in it.)

TheFBI is conducting approximately 70 full-field investigationsthroughout the U.S. that it considers bin Laden-related. CIA and theFBI are investigating a call to our embassy in the UAE in May sayingthat a group or bin Laden supporters was in the U.S. planning attackswith explosives.  Explosives were not used on 9/11.

(NOTE:  I pulled this transcript from cnn.com.  But, for anyone who thinks I\’ve left a thing out, you can click here and see the actual document, including where there were redactions that neither I nor anyone else outside the briefing room was privy to.)

See my point?  There is nothing – and I do mean nothing – that leads to 9/11.

Please remember this the next time someone – whether a friend, relative, or media source – claims President Bush got a memo, so he knew about it beforehand.

I do admit, however, that President Obama probably might not have come to the same conclusion.  But only because, since he rarely bothers to show up at these briefings, the odds are excellent he would not have been there to see it in the first place.

Is it January 20, 2017 yet?
