Another of the scandals of this eminently scandal-ridden administration is Operation Fast & Furious – which resulted in the deaths of two U.S. agents, Brian Terry and Jaime Zapata (not just Mr. Terry, as many reports have mistakenly said), along with hundreds of Mexican victims and God only knows how many non-fatal criminal acts.
Judicial Watch, which has gone after the documentation of this scandal – a hugely frustrating effort, given the administration’s (understandable) efforts to suppress all evidence and mainstream media’s (disgraceful) attempts to bury the story – has just succeeded, through invocation of the Freedom Of Information Act, in obtaining some 42,000 relevant documents from the Department Of Justice (DOJ).
One of them appears to make it clear that the DOJ targeted Sharyl Attkisson, one of the very few investigative reporters who took her job seriously enough to investigate and report on Fast & Furious (which probably contributed heavily to her being forced out of CBS News after 20 years there).
If you want to see the particulars, click here and Judicial Watch will provide them to you.
When you do, if you wonder why, if this is what the DOJ was doing, only one such email has been uncovered, click here for a highly illuminating piece by powerlineblog.com’s John Hinderaker. In it, Mr. Hinderaker offers the (completely logical) speculation that DOJ attempted to scrub all email references to Attkisson, and this one survived because her name was misspelled, so the scrubbing didn’t take.
Then grow old waiting for mainstream media to report any of this…..the same mainstream media which served up almost two months of lead-story pieces about New Jersey Governor Chris Christie possibly closing a couple of lanes on the George Washington Bridge (and then barely reporting the federal investigation finding that there was no evidence showing his involvement).
And, yes, these are the same “journalists” who squeal like stuck pigs if you call them biased.
