Tense but peaceful protests over Michael Brown\’s death and other fatal police shootings in Missouri and elsewhere stretched across the St. Louis region Friday as organizers urged hundreds of participants to avoid arrest so that they could return for a weekend of demonstrations.
That is the first paragraph of a Fox News story on the protests regarding the shooting deaths of Michael Brown and, more recently, Vonderrit Myers Jr. by police officers.
The definition of “tense but peaceful”, I have repeatedly found, is that protesters get in the faces of as many police officers as they can (knowing they will not be charged with disorderly conduct or disturbing the peace), and do everything they can think of to push them over the edge so one or more of the officers reacts (the way you and I would have to this kind of provocation long beforehand) – at which time, with cameras recording every second of the confrontation, the police can be charged with brutality and anything else the protesters can think of.
Do you have any doubt that the above definition describes what is happening in Saint Louis this weekend?
It makes you wonder whether at least some of the protesters really give a damn about Michael Brown or Vondererret Myers Jr., doesn\’t it?
It makes you wonder if, to these people, Brown and Myers Jr. are the equivalent of the human shields used by hamas in Gaza – i.e. the “victims” mean nothing to the people running the show beyond their exploitation value in the press.
And it makes you wonder whether “justice” mean anything to the organizers of these protests other than moving heaven and earth to nail the police as a bunch of White racist murderers – regardless of what actually happened when Brown and Myers were shot.
