Here is a story that mainstream media decided wasn\’t important enough to cover.
Well, it is.
Do you know who Kathleen Kane is? Unless you live in Pennsylvania the answer is probably no. And that\’s too bad. Because Kane – who happens to be the Attorney General of the state of Pennsylvania – appears to be a corrupt politician – and a practitioner of what, for lack of a better description (I don\’t know if there could be a good one) racism in the name of anti-racism.
According to Craig R. McCoy and Angela Couloumbis\’s article at philly.com (the online arm of the decidedly non-Republican Philadelphia Inquirer):
The special prosecutor and grand jury investigating allegations that Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane leaked secret information to a newspaper have found evidence of wrongdoing and recommended that she be criminally charged, according to numerous people familiar with the decision.
The panel concluded that Kane violated grand-jury secrecy rules by leaking investigative material in a bid to embarrass political enemies, sources said.
Some of those familiar with the grand jury presentment say it recommended charges that included perjury and contempt of court.
And, in case you think that this is Ms. Kane\’s maiden voyage into corruption, let me advise you (or remind you, if you\’re a regular reader of this blog) that, ealier this year, she also refused to file charges against four Pennsylvania state legislators from the Philadelphia area who took bribes in return for their votes against Voter ID legislation. There is absolutely no doubt that they did so – each of them was caught on tape accepting those bribes.
The reason for Kane\’s refusal? Since they are all Black, she claims, the investigation was racially motivated — which is an absolute, 100% lie.
Read Angela Couloumbis and Craig R. McCoy\’s investigative report from last March, also for philly.com, and see for yourself. Here are its first paragraphs (with plenty more worth reading, so please do use the link I\’ve provided). Please pay special attention to the segments I\’ve put in bold print:
ThePennsylvania Attorney General\’s Office ran an undercover stingoperation over three years that captured leading PhiladelphiaDemocrats, including four members of the city\’s state Housedelegation, on tape accepting money, The Inquirer has learned.
Yetno one was charged with a crime.
Prosecutorsbegan the sting in 2010 when Republican Tom Corbett was attorneygeneral. After Democrat Kathleen G. Kane took office in 2013, sheshut it down.
Ina statement to The Inquirer on Friday, Kane called the investigationpoorly conceived, badly managed, and tainted by racism, saying it hadtargeted African Americans.
Thosewho favored the sting believe Kane killed a solid investigation, ledby experienced prosecutor Frank G. Fina, that had ensnared severalpublic officials and had the potential to capture more. They saidthey were outraged at Kane\’s allegation that race had played a rolein the case.
BeforeKane ended the investigation, sources familiar with the inquiry said, prosecutors amassed 400 hours of audio and videotape that documentedat least four city Democrats taking payments in cash or money orders, and in one case a $2,000 Tiffany bracelet.
Typically, the payments made at any one time were relatively modest – rangingfrom $500 to $2,000 – but most of those involved accepted multiplepayments, people familiar with the investigation said. In some cases, the payments were offered in exchange for votes or contracts, theysaid.
Sourceswith knowledge of the sting said the investigation made financialpitches to both Republicans and Democrats, but only Democratsaccepted the payments.
Got that? The investigation produced audio and/or video tape of these crooks taking the bribes for their votes.
But, although it went after people of both parties, only Black Democrats took the bait. Therefore, the investigation must be “tainted by racism”, and none of these corrupt politicians will be charged.
I\’ll tell you what is racist here: the Attorney General of Pennsylvania, that\’s who. Because she has told us, in so many words, that corrupt Black officials, even if they\’re caught on tape taking bribes, will not be charged unless there are counterbalancing corrupt White officials as well.
That, folks, is a decision based on race — and, more than likely, the fact that these corrupt officials are fellow Democrats.
I am thrilled that the grand jury has come down with its recommendations. Because Kathleen Kane must answer for her actions – or resign, which, if she thinks things through, should come across as the honorable (and probably legally expedient) thing for her to do.
Amazing, isn\’t it, how much racism emanates from people who profess to be against racism?
