How credible is Leigh Corfman’s story?
As I assume you are aware, Leigh Corfman is the now-middle-aged woman who claims that Roy Moore molested her when she was 14 years old…and that his molestation was a contributory factor to her becoming a dissolute teenager and adult (including wild teenage years, three marriages and divorces, three bankruptcies, multiple accusations against other men before Moore, etc.)
But investigative reporter Aaron Klein, writing for breitbart.com, has gone through the relevant court records, and takes much of Ms. Corfman’s story – first reported in the Washington Post – apart.
Among his findings:
The Post failed to tell readers that at that February 21, 1979, court case Wells voluntarily gave up custody of Corfman to Corfman’s father, Robert R. Corfman. The two had been divorced since 1974. The custody case was amicable and involved a joint petition by both parents.
The Post further did not tell readers that as a result of the joint petition to change custody, the court ordered the 14-year-old Corfman to move to her father’s house starting on March 4, 1979. Court documents show the father’s address in Ohatchee, and not in Gadsden, where her mother lived and where Corfman says the meetings with Moore took place.
This would mean that from the court hearing on February 21, 1979, until Corfman was ordered to move to her father’s house, Moore would only have had 12 days, including the day of the court hearing, to have repeatedly called Corfman at her mother’s Gadsden house, arrange two meetings, and attempt another. Moore has strenuously denied the accusations.
A 12 day window? As Mr. Klein points out, that does not debunk the Corfman story, but makes it highly unlikely.
One other segment for you, relating to Ms. Corfman’s claim that the alleged encounter with Moore turned her into the dissolute teenager and adult she ultimately became:
The Post reported:
After talking to her friends, Corfman says, she began to feel that she had done something wrong and kept it a secret for years.
“I felt responsible,” she says. “I felt like I had done something bad. And it kind of set the course for me doing other things that were bad.”
She says that her teenage life became increasingly reckless with drinking, drugs, boyfriends, and a suicide attempt when she was 16.
The Post failed to mention that the very reason for the February 21, 1979, court hearing where Moore allegedly met Corfman was because, according to the court documents, Corfman had exhibited “certain disciplinary and behavioral problems.” In other words, Corfman evidence behavioral problems prior to the alleged encounters with Moore.
Why wasn’t that mentioned by the Post article? Because it made Ms. Corfman’s claims seem less credible?
Look, I don’t know what, if anything, happened between Roy Moore and Leigh Corfman. No one other than them can know for sure. But I do know that unproven and unprovable allegations from anyone at all, should not be the basis for removing a senatorial candidate…especially when the accuser is someone with Ms. Corfman’s history.
This again leaves me between a rock and a hard place.
Politically, I can’t stomach Roy Moore and wish he was not a candidate for the senate – or, for that matter, any other responsible position.
But morally, I can’t abide destroying his reputation on nothing other than decades-old allegations, which cannot be proved, and are timed perfectly for political reasons.
God how I wish this situation would just disappear.

How about interviewing every single person who signed her school year book ?
Something might well fall out from that – relationships, where she was, who/if she dated.
No one other than them can know for sure.
There is One more that would know.
And I believe Moore fears that One, more than he wants to be a Senator.
Point well taken
