Corey Booker is the senior Senator from New Jersey. On Monday/Tuesday he made a 25 hour “speech” (that’s not a typo) on the floor of the Senate. It wan’t a filibuster because there was no legislation pending. He just spoke – ranted and yelled is more like it – against Republicans for literally over one full day.
His “speech” was hailed by much of our mainstream media. According to Liz Peek’s article at the hill:
The legacy media gave rave reviews to Booker’s theater of the absurd. NBC’s headline: “Cory Booker’s record-breaking speech ignites a Democratic base ‘desperate’ for a fighter. The Guardian: “Booker makes a stand against Trump — and doesn’t stop for 25 hours.” Even veteran pollster Frank Luntz was smitten, absurdly predicting that Booker’s speech “may have changed the course of political history” and made Booker “one of the leaders for the Democratic Party for 2028.”
I have two questions. Did you know that Corey Booker made a 25 hour speech? And, in the unlikely event that you did, can you tell me what he said during those 25 hours (other than guessing that, since he is a Democrat, it was disparaging to Donald Trump and other Republicans)?
If your answer is “yes”, I offer my congratulations. You are the only person I know who is able to do so. Not one person I have spoken to this week has so much as mentioned that this allegedly benchmark event even occurred, let alone what Booker said.
Is this really what Democrats have left? An inconsequential senator rattling out his dislike of the opposition party until he’s too tired to continue? “Educating” us to the fact that a Democrat disagrees with Republicans?
If the answer is yes, then God help them.
