When did Columbia University – and its affiliated all-female school (though maybe they allow males who decide they’re females now too) – Barnard College – turn into centers for Israel/Jew-Hatred?
I don’t know when it happened. I only know it did. And the latest demonstration of their Israel/Jew-hatred – a continuation of what went on there all last year – occurred yesterday on the Barnard campus.
From Marlene Lenthang’s article at NBC News, we have this:
A Pro-Palestinian protest unfolded at Barnard College in New York City on Wednesday, where a small group “forcibly entered” a campus hall and allegedly physically assaulted a school employee, college officials said.
A sit-in demonstration was organized Wednesday at Barnard’s Office of the Deans to protest the expulsion of two Barnard students last week for allegedly “disrupting” a Columbia University class on Israeli history a month earlier, according to protest group Columbia University Apartheid Divest. Barnard College is an independent women’s college affiliated with Columbia in which students can take courses at both schools.
During the protest, a small group of masked demonstrators “forcibly entered Milbank Hall” and “physically assaulted a Barnard employee, sending them to the hospital,” Robin Levine, Barnard College’s Vice President for Strategic Communications, said in a statement Wednesday evening.
As of Thursday morning, it’s not clear what the nature of the injury was nor what the condition that employee is in.
“They encouraged others to enter campus without identification, showing blatant disregard for the safety of our community,” Levine said. “Violence and intimidation have no place here.”
However, the group Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine had posted on X: “We do not need outside support for the sit-in.” Instead, anyone who wanted to support was asked to head to a rally in Bay Ridge instead.
Levine said protesters had until 9:30 p.m. to leave the building or else the college would “be forced to consider additional, necessary measures to protect our campus.”
Ugly though what you just read is, it actually protects the protesters (who prevented students from attending classes, let’s not forget), because it does not show the ugly, anti-Semitic signs, like the one with a jackboot above a Star of David…
…and it doesn’t mention that, according to the article at ABC news,
A pro-Palestinian demonstration inside Milbank Hall on Barnard College’s Morningside Heights campus ended with a promise of a sit down with the administration on Thursday.the protest actually ended with an agreement that Barnard would meet with protest leaders.
A MEETING with protesters? That is outrageous.
A bunch of “protesters” takes over a school building, prevents students from going to class, displays hate signs and chants hate messages against “Zionists”….and is rewarded with a meeting.
What should have been done – would have been done if Barnard gave a damn about its students, Jewish and non-Jewish both – was telling the protesters they had 10 minutes to vacate. And if they did not, police would be asked to arrest them, and every one of them who was a student would be summarily suspended subject to expulsion.
But that didn’t happen. Nope. Not at Barnard. And it won’t happen at Columbia either.
Hatred dies hard. And it is alive and well in both those schools…along with a great many others around the country as well.
What happened to higher education in this country?
