Donald Trump negotiated a deal that kept something like 1,100 jobs in Indiana; jobs that were about to head for Mexico.
Is that good? Not, apparently, for at least some – maybe a great many – on the left. Here are three cases in point:
-The New York Times page 1 headline? “1,000 Jobs Stay But Still More May Be Going”.
-Bernie Sanders, writing in today’s Washington Post: “He has signaled to every corporation in America that they can threaten to offshore jobs in exchange for business-friendly tax benefits and incentives”.
-MSNBC’s Chris Hayes: “Company says they’ll leave, government comes up with a big bribe to pay them to stay.”
….and there’s plenty more where that came from.
Would these economic savants have been happier if the 1,100 jobs left?
My guess is that they would be indifferent to the job loss (when, in recent years, has the left worried about good paying jobs leaving the country), but just as happy because then, instead of attacking Trump on the quality of the deal, they could then attack Trump for not making the deal. It’s a win-win-whine situation for them.
This, folks, is why Donald Trump won. And why fewer and fewer people give a damn about what subscription-declining New York Times, the Clinton sellout Bernie Sanders and the low-rated Chris Hayes say about jobs, or anything else at all.
