Yesterday, I blogged, incredulously about Bill Clinton’s apparent reference to the Obama presidency:
“But if you believe we can all rise together, if you believe we’ve finally come to the point where we can put the awful legacy of the last eight years behind us…”
Today, we have this “explanation” from Hillary Clinton spokesperson Angel Urena:
“(Mr. Clinton was) referring to the GOP’s obstructionism…After President Obama was elected, Republicans made it their number one goal to block him at every turn. That unprecedented obstruction these last eight years is their legacy,” said Hillary Clinton spokesman Angel Urena. “And the American people should reject it by electing Hillary Clinton to build on President Obama’s success so we can all grow and succeed together.”
Do you believe this explanation?
In truth I do. Not because I am particularly taken with the political claptrap offered by Urena, but because it seems impossible that Bill Clinton, knowing how much his wife needs Mr. Obama’s support, would unload on him that way.
I think, and am sorry I do, that Bill Clinton is losing it. That his intellect is diminished in some way for some reason.
If this were a one-time gaffe, I would not be saying as much. Anyone, no matter how sharp, screws things up once in a while. But look at what Mr. Clinton said yesterday:
“Things are going better in America, the European Union is under terrible stress because of all those migrants that are coming there and the fights they’re having within each other, many of them are moving to the right and becoming much more afraid of diversity even as we embrace it”
That doesn’t make sense.
First Clinton blames “migrants” for what is happening in Europe. Then he indicates it makes Europeans afraid of diversity (as they, of course, should be if this Clinton’s own assessment is accurate). And then he says America is doing better because we embrace what he just told us is causing the problems in Europe.
Huh? Wha?
These are not the words of someone who is in full control of what he is saying.
I hope I am wrong about this.

To believe this statement you would have to forget what the D’s did during the Bush administration.
