The Joe Biden “He’s got to go” commentaries keep on coming.
From Tim Donner’s article at libertynation.com…
Can Joe Biden somehow convince the electorate that his age and decades of experience in politics are beneficial rather than detrimental to the country? It seems the time to make that argument has passed. The shame for Biden is that he could have avoided all of this and become a hero among Democrats instead of a millstone around his party’s neck if he had stuck to his original implicit promise to be a transitional figure, i.e., a one-term president. After driving Trump out of the White House and seeing Democrats overperform in the 2022 midterms, he could have taken a victory lap, bowed out, and left the job of keeping Trump out of the Oval Office to someone other than a doddering old man no longer in full control of his faculties. But now the barn door is closed, and Joe Biden’s thirst to retain power has unmasked every one of his flaws. It has not only permanently stained his legacy among Democrats who considered him heroic not long ago, but it has also created a near-existential crisis for which there appears to be no solution.
…and from Rich Lowry’s article at Jewish World Review:
It’s not Joe Biden’s fault that he’s old and in decline. That happens to everyone who’s long-lived. What’s blameworthy is that he and his wife Jill haven’t had the good sense, as far as we know, to acknowledge what is happening to him. The right thing to do would have been to take a hard look at this sometime last year and decide to spare Biden the humiliation, and the country the potential crisis, of running him again when he’s not up for it.
If Biden had stood down then, he’d look like a wise, public-spirited statesman, and he’d have given his party the chance to run a proper primary. It’s too late for that now. No matter how bad the Hur report is for Biden, there is almost certainly worse to come.
Mr. Donner and Mr. Lowry may not agree on everything. But they couldn’t be more in tune – or more correct – about Joe Biden.
It seems to me, the only logical outcome is a press conference in which Joe Biden bows out because (his likely words in one form or another),
“Even though I am perfectly fit and able to continue as President through 2028, the MAGA Republicans have poisoned the well so completely that it is best for my party and the country that I leave the continuance of my major successes as President to a younger person who has not been tarred with an unfair criticism, based on the ugly face of Republicans’ discrimination.”
Can he sell the story you just read? Even at this late date? Our complicit, compliant media being what it is, he’s got a real shot.
I doubt it will be long before Bye-Bye Biden is a reality. How can it be?
