THE BIDEN BORDER PATROL LIE

How, you might ask, is it possible for Joe Biden to claim that Republicans – not him, but Republicans – are responsible for the unprecedented surge in illegal border crossings that have occurred entirely under his administration?

Well, one way is to claim that Republicans attempted to severely lower the number of border patrol agents, by voting in May to get rid of 2,000 of them, thus allowing the surge to occur.

But there is a problem.  That claim is a lie.  And Biden & Co. know it full well.

The lie is so blatant that even the hate-Trump/support-Biden Washington Post can’t abide it.  The paper’s “fact-checker”, Glenn Kessler, gave this claim three stars (and, trust me, he was far too kind):

“But there is a big problem with this number.  It’s not based on an actual vote on the Homeland Security budget.  Instead, it’s a White House estimate on the impact of a bill the House passed in 2023 as an opening bid in budget talks with the Biden administration. When it came to an actual vote for border security, the House in September passed an appropriations bill that funded an additional 1,795 Border Patrol agents. That was four times the increase (350 agents) that President Biden had requested in his own 2024 budget proposal.”

In other words, not only is the claim 100% untrue, but it was Biden who wanted fewer agents, not Republicans.

And, sad to say, you can expect a lot more lies just like this one from Biden and his people  during the 2024 campaign.  Why?  Because, based on recent history, an honest fact-check of their claims is an anomaly.  Such claims usually will either be ignored or rationalized by most of our mainstream media.

Too bad.  Wouldn’t it be nice to have media with at least the pretense of evenhandedness?  In that regard, maybe Glenn Kessler’s take-down of the border patrol lie will be the start of something.   But don’t count on it.
