Well, we finally have an apology from someone in the Obama administration for something related to the bowe bergdahl scandal.
Brandon Friedman, a deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of HUD (and, to his credit, a former infantry officer in the 101st airborne division who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan), has apologized for suggesting that the soldiers from bowe bergdahl\’s unit – you know, the ones who didn\’t crap on their country and then desert – might have been a bunch of psychopaths led by incompetent officers.
The key parts of his statement:
“I\’dlike to clarify tweets I wrote last night on my personal Twitteraccount concerning the return of Bowe Bergdahl.
“First, Ido not speak for the Administration on national security issues inany capacity-public or personal.
“WhileI just wanted to make the point that the public should wait beforepassing judgment, I unfortunately used my own poor judgment inchoosing inappropriate language that many view as disparaging to U.S.service members. That was certainly not myintent and I regret making the comments on my personal account insuch a way. I apologize to those with whom I work in theAdministration, at HUD, and, most importantly, to any service memberswho took offense.”
So there you have it. The one person, so far, who has shown any remorse for this inexcusable, unforgivable “deal”, is a lowest-of-low-level guy who is in public affairs for a non-military part of the administration.
Don\’t you love that part where Friedman tells us it was not his intent to disparage US service members? Why, of course not. How could he possibly imagine that speculating “…his platoon was long on psychopaths and short on leadership”, as Friedman did, might be taken as disparaging? Man, some people…..
But at least Friedman manned up and said that much. So far, nothing at all from Barack Obama, or the laughably dishonest jay carney, or the pathetically dishonest susan rice.
Yet.
What may – may – happen is that a) it will be impossible for even Obama\’s Accomplice Media to bury this story because b) it is so politically detrimental that more and more Democrat office seekers, incumbent and insurgent, will be speaking out in condemnation of it, causing c) Obama & Co. to issue a mea culpa of some kind so the roof won\’t fall completely in come November.
Of course, this being Barack Obama, that might never happen at all, no matter how badly it hurts other Democrats. Humility ain\’t exactly his long suit.
