THE AWAN SCANDAL – UPDATE

The previous blog spoke of a scandal media are ignoring…because it involves Democrats and not Donald Trump.

Here’s the latest on another one:  the Awan Scandal.

From Luke Rosiak’s latest article at dailycaller.com – and please pay particular attention to the last paragraph, which reminds us of what this scandal is really about:

After former Democratic IT aide Imran Awan allegedly threatened his stepmother not to talk to police, her email account was accessed in suspicious ways and a lawyer for one of Awan’s brothers found out she emailed the FBI on specific dates and lashed out at her: “You’re a liar, aren’t you?”

Days after that, a bank account the stepmother controlled was almost completely drained through a payment to Imran’s brother, Abid Awan, bank records show — but she said she is too afraid to press criminal charges because she claims he has threatened her. The stepmother, Samina Gilani, also previously said Imran stole two laptops from her.

Imran, Abid and Jamal Awan — along with Imran’s wife, Hina Alvi, and a friend — worked as IT administrators for 1 out of every 5 House Democrats and could read all their emails and files until police banned them from the network in February 2017 for “numerous violations of House security policies.”

The awans, Pakistani nationals, were given full access to at least 44 Democrat congresspeople.  What they did with the information they were privy to we do not know for sure.  But – given that imran awan was intercepted while trying to flee to Pakistan –  the likelihood that it was handled illegally – maybe that sensitive information was extracted and sold to foreign interests – is probably very high.

And Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the disgraced ex-chair of the Democratic National Committee – who fixed the primary system to make sure her idol, Hillary Clinton, was the party’s 2016 presidential nominee – is right in the thick of it.

If you want to read just how ugly this scandal is, there are a good many sources – Luke Rosiak’s stellar investigative work over the past year being one of them.  But the quickest way is for you to read Jasper Fakkert’s article at theepochtimes.com.

Here is how it begins:

The emails and personal files of at least 44 House Democrats could have been stolen and transferred overseas by their own IT workers, in a scandal that has been quietly brewing in Congress.

At the center of the controversy are Imran Awan, his brother Abid Awan, and five other family members and associates.

They worked as shared IT employees for 44 House Democrats and had access to the House members’ sensitive data, including emails, calendars, constituents’ data, and personal files, despite having little to no IT experience.

All of the 44 House members had waived the background check on the employees, according to an inspector general’s report. Some of the members serve on committees that handle sensitive and sometimes classified information, such as the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, the House Committee on Homeland Security, and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Then you can wonder, along with me, how our media, which have buried this scandal so deep you’d have to launch a rocket ship from China to find it, can still call themselves “journalists”.
