Are you looking for a really worthwhile charity to contribute to?
Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) thinks you should send the money to the Adam Schiff Defense Fund. So, as someone happy to contribute to worthwhile causes, I decided to look into it.
The key issue, of course, is why the defense fund exists. The answer: to defend Adam Schiff against charges that he has committed mortgage fraud.
And what are those charges?
One of them is that he simultaneously listed two different homes he owned as primary residences to get better mortgage rates. That, it would seem to me, is so easy to determine that even a non-legal non-expert like yours truly would be able to do it without much effort. Just show me the documents he signed, see if he listed the homes as his primary residence, and see what the dates are. If the dates coincide he must be guilty, right?
(And that’s just one of the charges. Others include wire fraud, mail fraud, bank fraud and making false statements to financial institutions.)
Now, what do Schiff’s people have to say about this?
Well, according to Schiff’s lawyer, Preet Bharara, the claim of simultaneous primary residence status is “transparently false, stale, and long debunked.”.
So show us the papers he signed, Preet, and end the issue.
Then we have Schiff spokesperson Marisol Samayoa explaining why we should contribute to his defense fund:
“It’s clear that Donald Trump and his MAGA allies will continue weaponizing the justice process to attack Senator Schiff for holding this corrupt administration accountable. This fund will ensure he can fight back against these baseless smears while continuing to do his job.”
So show us the papers he signed, Marisol, and end the issue.
Say, isn’t this the same Adam Schiff who told us years and years ago he had “ample evidence” that Donald Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election? The same Adam Schiff who continues to make this claim but has yet to produce the “evidence” he has an ample amount of – not even to the no-Republicans-only-Democrats commission that investigated the claim for years and found no basis for it?
Y’know, taking the above into account, if I’m going to contribute to a cause, I think I might be able to find a more deserving one than the Adam Schiff defense fund.
How about you?
