As you probably know, Ted Cruz has announced that he is running for President. And as you also probably know, Rand Paul is likely to do the same within the next two weeks.
Anticipating their candidacies, I wrote this in my blog of January 15th. Is applies every bit as much today:
I have a question about the potential presidential runs of Ted Cruz and Rand Paul.
Forgetting their political stands, if we are suffering through eight years of Barack Obama – who became President with less than one term in the senate, who never had a day’s executive experience in his life and had to learn as he went (something it doesn’t appear even happened)….
….why would we want to double down on inexperience and vote for either Ted Cruz or Rand Paul – who, though their politics are, for the most part, polar opposite of Barack Obama’s, have exactly the same kind of resume?
This, in my opinion, disqualifies them both – even before any problems I have with their positions on individual issues.
If ever we needed competence, this is the time. Let’s not blow it.
I don’t care what you think about either man’s positions. We need someone who has been around the block when it comes to executive experience, and has shown us executive successes – i.e. that he/she is capable of leading.
An unqualified candidate from the right is just as unqualified as an unqualified candidate from the left.
Let’s not, shall we?
