STEVE BANNON’S “ANTI-SEMITISM”

Having seen a dozen or so breathless accusations – some from left wing sites and some from what passes for mainstream media these days – that Steve Bannon is anti-Semitic, I would like to say the following.

First, let me say that I have no idea what how Steve Bannon feels about Jews.  I also do not know how you feel about Jews.  That lack of knowledge does not establish him, or you, as an anti-Semite.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s deal with the two “proofs” of Bannon’s anti-Semitism being floated.  One is that he allegedly did not want his daughters to attend an expensive private school because it had “whiny Jews” in it, and the other is that the web site he ran, breitbart.com, had an article titled William Kristol – Renegade Jew.

Let’s take them one by one.

-Regarding the “whiny Jews” claim:  It was made by his soon to be ex-wife during an acrimonious divorce hearing and is uncorroborated by anyone but the former Ms. Bannon.  That’s not what you’d call rock-solid evidence.

Then we have the fact that his daughters wound up going to …guess where?  That’s right, exactly the same school he supposedly put his foot down about sending them to, The Archer School For Girls in West LA.

If Bannon didn’t want them among “whiny Jews”, that was a strange way of showing it.

-As for the William Kristol: Renegade Jew (the actual title was Bill Kristol:  Republican Spoiler, Renegade Jew), to read the attacks on Bannon you would swear he wrote a disgustingly anti-Semitic piece about Kristol.

Except….

Steve Bannon didn’t write this piece.  The writer was…are you ready?……

…..David Horowitz.  That’s right, THE David Horowitz, who is not only Jewish, but, though secular himself, about as avid a supporter of Judaism and the state of Israel, as you can find anywhere.

Now, would someone like to tell me about how anti-Semitic they “know” Steve Bannon to be?

You can do it if you want.  I love fairy tales.

Or, you can regale me with stories about how mainstream media have joined with the hard left haters to, again, make complete dishonest clowns of themselves.   At least then we’ll be dealing in facts.
