SORE LOSER BILE IN THE AGE OF TRUMP

Interested in a working definition of sore losership and bile?

If so, you’ll probably want to read the following exchange between Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, Clinton commmunications director Jennifer Palmieri and Clinton senior strategist Joel Benenson, which took place yesterday at Harvard University, during what was supposed to be a more or less cordial retrospective of the just-completed presidential race.

Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway had just mentioned that Stephen Bannon was a “brilliant strategist” – hardly surprising, given that he was instrumental in strategizing the come-from-behind winning campaign.

Then we had this:

JENNIFER PALMIERI:  “If providing a platform for white supremacists makes me a brilliant tactician, I am proud to have lost.  I would rather lose than win the way you guys did.”

KELLYANNE CONWAY:  “No, you wouldn’t, that’s very clear today. … How exactly did [Mr. Trump] win? No, go for it, Jen — how exactly did we win? I’d like to know, because I sacrificed the last four months of my life to do it…..Do you think I ran a campaign where white supremacists had a platform?”

PALMIERI:  “You did, Kellyanne. You did.”

CONWAY:  “Do you think you could have just had a decent message for white, working-class voters?  How about, it’s Hillary Clinton, she doesn’t connect with people? How about, they have nothing in common with her? How about, she doesn’t have an economic message?”

JOEL BENENSON:  “There were dog whistles sent out to people. . . . Look at your rallies. He delivered it.”

CONWAY:  “Guys, I can tell you are angry, but wow.  hashtag he’s your president. How’s that? Will you ever accept the election results? Will you tell your protesters that he’s their president, too?”

Not exactly a cordial exchange, is it?

And, since the article I pulled this from was from the Washington Post – written by  Karen Tumulty and Philip Rucker – we, of course, had this coloration to it:

Clinton communications director Jennifer Palmieri condemned Bannon, who previously ran Breitbart, a news site popular with the alt-right, a small movement known for espousing racist views.

That so, Karen and Philip?  WHAT racist views would those be?  Can you give us some specifics of the racism espoused on breitbart.com – a site I quote from very often, and never seem to find such views in?

Amazing, isn’t it?  Bannon is a White supremacist.  Why?  Because he ran a conservative web site “known for espousing racist views”.  Did he write any of the racist views?  Nope.  Well, who did and what were they?  “We aren’t saying.  Just believe us”.

Steve Bannon used to be an anti-Semite too…until that was so thoroughly debunked by so many prominent Jews who would have had no problem nailing him for it if there were any truth to the charge, that it has quietly been dropped.

This, folks, is the definition of what I call Sore Loser Bile. It isn’t pretty.  And it isn’t accurate either.  But that’s what the Clilnton campaign, via the Washington Post, is pumping out for you these days.  Enjoy.

Oh, one other thing.  If you use the link I’ve provided you’ll find that Jennifer Palmieri “said”  and “interjected” the quotes.  Kellyanne Conway “fumed” her response.

At some point you just have to laugh.
