Robin Williams, the single most talented person I have ever seen, is dead at the age of 63. Reports indicate that it is likely he committed suicide.
Mr. Williams was probably the greatest ad-lib comedian of all time. And a great comedic actor. And an even better dramatic actor.
Unfortunately (as seems to be the case with so many in the entertainment business) Williams also had some very serious demons – among them cocaine (he supposedly had kicked the habit) and alcohol (which he also kicked for years, but then relapsed).
He will live on in his work – both what we have seen in the past, and several movies “in the can” which have yet to be released.
But that does not change the fact that we have lost one of the greatest entertainers of all time.
Robin Williams led a troubled life. Let\’s hope that eternity is less so for him. May he rest in peace.
