RIGGED ELECTIONS: DOES DONALD TRUMP HAVE A POINT

For the past two days, Donald Trump has been telling – yelling, actually – to anyone who will listen that the Republican system for nominating a presidential candidate is rigged.

What set him off?  The fact that Ted Cruz got all of Colorado’s 37 delegates, without there being a popular vote primary.

Here, from the Denver Post, is how it was done:

Colorado will not vote for a Republican candidate for president at its 2016 caucus after party leaders approved a little-noticed shift that may diminish the state’s clout in the most open nomination contest in the modern era.

The GOP executive committee has voted to cancel the traditional presidential preference poll after the national party changed its rules to require a state’s delegates to support the candidate who wins the caucus vote.

It looks pretty obvious that Mr. Trump has a point, doesn’t it?

Except for one thing:  the Denver Post article excerpted above was first published on August 25, 2015.

That was almost 8 months ago.  And the rules in place were obviously no secret to Donald Trump, his people, or anyone else.

In other words, Donald Trump lost Colorado because he and his “organization” (if you can call it one) either did not bother to learn of the rules  that have been in place for the better part of a year, or were not capable of working within them.

You may not like the way Colorado did things this year.  But its delegate selection process was not “rigged” in any candidate’s favor at all:  every one of them could have addressed Colorado the same way Ted Cruz and his organization did.

Oh, one other thing:  As of now, Donald Trump has won only 37% of the total Republican votes.  But he has 45% of the delegates.  Is he complaining that this part of the system is rigged too?

Don’t bet on it.  Not even at one of Trump’s casinos.

  • Ken have you read the 2 linked posts in this post of yours? If you haven’t which I am pretty sure you didn’t, you should. No where in either of them says anything about what happened in Colorado. So saying that some set of “Rules” made this possible is horse excrement. I took the time to read the Rules in these reports, they have to do with the date when the primary can be held, nothing about not letting voters choose the candidates.
