Can you believe that crazy Supreme Court?
This morning, it ruled, 6-3, that Texas is ok with its requirement that voters present a photo ID – which is available, equally, to all Texas citizens who are legally able to vote (but not, of course, to people not legally able to vote).
Omigod. Voters will actually have to show something that indicates they are who they say they are. In the immortal words of Mona Lisa Vito, what a effin\’ nightmare…for illegal voters, that is.
Now listen to all the howls from Democrat politicians and leftward talking heads that this is a Republican trick to suppress the minority vote; in other words, that Blacks and Latinos are less capable of getting a photo ID than Whites.
Let me say that again, so there is no doubt.
By claiming a voter ID law – which applies to everyone equally – suppresses the vote of minorities (Blacks and Latinos), but does not suppress the vote of White people, they are saying, in so many words, that White people are more capable than Blacks and Latinos. They are saying, in so many words, that Whites are superior to Blacks; that Blacks are inferior to Whites and Latinos.
And then – you can bet your bottom dollar on this – they will accuse Republicans of racism (not voter ID proponents generally – which most people favor, including a majority of Democrats – but Republicans in particular).
Yes, you read that right. They will be calling other people racists.
You won\’t know whether to laugh, to cry, or just shake your head in disbelief.
