“Just paid the Obamacare penalty for not \’getting covered\’… I\’M CALLING IT A LIBERTY TAX.”
What you just read is a tweet, from Matt Drudge, who decided to opt out of ObamaCare and pay the prescribed tax penalty for doing so…
…which created a huge firestorm, from the Obama White House and some of its Accomplice Media, none of whom have any idea of why Mr. Drudge paid or when it is owed.
Here, from Matthew Boyle\’s illuminating article are some of the reaction to that tweet:
-Jessie Lee, Director of Progressive Media at the White House (did you know such a position existed?): “Flat lie, no fee for previous year…scary how much influence (Drudge) once had.” (er, Jessie: Drudge is probably read more in one hour of any day than everything you have put out combined in your lifetime);
-Sahil Kapur of (left wing) Talking Points Memo: “Dude, there\’s no penalty until next yr”;
-Dylan Scott, also of TPM: “Americans don\’t pay a penalty for not having health insurance until they file their 2014 taxes — in 2015. So either Drudge is lying or he paid a huge penalty a year earlier than he needed to.”
-“Penalty isn\’t collected until 2015” chimed in Sam Baker of National Journal;
And, over at the left wing Huffington Post, we had Jeffrey Young informing its readers that “The whole thing is weird, considering that the tax penalty that adds bite to the the \’individual mandate\’ — the Affordable Care Act\’s diktat that most Americans have some form of health coverage — isn\’t even due until more than a year from now, when people file their 2014 federal income-tax returns.”.
Boy, that Drudge. What an idiot, right? I mean, the Obama White House should know what it is talking about, being the progenitor of ObamaCare and all – not to mention all these tres impressive “journalists”, right?
Except…
As Matt Drudge quickly (and, I would assume, amusedly) pointed out, he is a sole proprieter with a small business. And the IRS requires sole proprietors of businesses his size to pay their taxes quarterly. So, in fact, his reference was to the 2014 taxes he was paying for the first quarter….otherwise known as right now….in which the ObamaCare individual mandate tax was included.
Simply stated, Drudge was right and these geniuses – including the one operating out of our White House – were wrong.
Excerpted from Boyle\’s article – please pay special attention to the part I\’ve put in bold print:
Additionally,the IRS form(1040-ES) for estimating quarterly taxes specifically recommendsadding the mandate penalty to line 12 for “other taxes” –to pay before the first quarterly deadline of April 15.
“Itis true that thousands of small businesses will be forced to payObamacare taxes quarterly in 2014,” a Senate Budget Committee aidetold Breitbart News on Friday afternoon.
Drudgeeven indicated as much in followup tweets, but the left-wingreporters-and the White House-have left their criticisms of himintact.
“Dazedteam Obama media reporters think Opt-Out tax \’year away\’?” Drudgetweeted.”Not for small businesses that file Qtr estimates. We\’re there NOW,baby #pay.”
Translation: Even after finding out they were wrong, these supposed “journalists” ignored reality and let the attacks stand as written.
Are you surprised? I\’m certainly not. This, over the years, is what I have come to expect from the Obama White House and from its Accomplice Media. I\’m just surprised that more mainstream venues did not attack him the same, 100% incorrect, way as well.
One final note: I consider drudgereport.com an absolutely invaluable source and look at it several times a day. I suggest you do too. There is not one other site I am aware of which gives more information….and from both sides, not just one….in a more easy to navigate format.
