OBAMACARE AND THE ECONOMY

Does this administration ever tell the truth about anything?  It is hard to find an example….and far harder to find one if you\’re looking at ObamaCare.

Excerpted from an editorial in yesterday\’s edition of Investors Business Daily:

Sophistry:The White House and Democrat media are happily reporting that arecord spike in health care spending saved the economy fromshrinking. Wait, wasn\’t ObamaCare supposed to bend the health costcurve down?

TheU.S. economy scarcely grew in the first quarter, expanding a mere0.1%. This miserable performance was far below the consensus forecastof 1% growth – which alone is embarrassing – and is yet anotherchapter in the growing book of Obamanomic disasters.

Nevertheless, the administration and its apologists in the media found something tobe proud of.

“Asthe U.S. economy teetered on the brink of contraction in the firstquarter, one thing stood out. Health care spending increased at itsfastest pace in more than three decades,” Reuters reportedWednesday night.

“Thatsurge is attributed to the implementation of President Obama\’ssignature health care law, the Affordable Care Act, also known asObamaCare. Because of ObamaCare, the nation narrowly avoided itsfirst decline in output in three years.”

Indefending the indefensible, White House spokesman Jay Carney braggedWednesday that “it was consumer spending on health care thathelped drive economic growth in the first quarter.”

Yes,it was the same Jay Carney who in the past guaranteed that theAffordable Care Act would “deliver on the promise of bending thecost curve, producing savings within our health care system.”

How do you deal with this?  The economy is a disaster but it\’s good because ObamaCare, which was supposed to save the average family $2,500 a year is driving up spending.

And mainstream media – most of them, anyway – continue to hold their ears, shut their eyes and go LALALALALALA so nothing can get through.

A lying administration and paid propagandists posing as journalists.  That is what we have sunk to.

Will it ever get better?  We can only hope.
