Has President Obama gone so far off the rails that even his usually-adept political instincts have gone blooey?
This week, Mr. Obama is going to Texas – the epicenter of illegal minors streaming over our border. So he intends to make an appearance at areas where illegals are being “processed” (if that\’s the right word to use) and speak of why this is happening and explain the administration\’s actions in addressing the situation, wouldn\’t you think?
But if you do think that you will be wrong. Incredibly, the one and only reason Barack Obama is heading to Texas is to…….fundraise.
According to the National Journal (and numerous other sources) Mr. Obama will “attend a fundraiser at the home of a wealthy Dallas lawyer and then go to another in Austin at the home of filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, according to The Dallas Morning News. Tickets for each event will range from $10,000 per person to $32,400 a couple.”
That\’s right. Children are flooding across our border, being smuggled in by cartels which take thousands of dollars from the parents (do we know how they got the money? Do we know what is happening to these children on the way), and inundating the Texas border. But the only reason Mr. Obama will go to there is to collect tons of money from those rich people he, his fellow Democrats, and their Accomplice Media, keep telling us are only in the Republican Party.
Here is a bet for you: I am betting that Mr. Obama will be advised that this makes him look absolutely terrible…..and there will be a sudden change of plans, with him showing up for a poignant photo op among the illegal minors.
Not because he gives a damn about them – he has already made plain that his interest is in extracting more money from rich Democrats – but because, politically, he comes to his senses and realizes he has to cover his ass.
There are a lot of reasons for Democrats in competitive races to be worried about the midterm elections. And it is boneheaded, insensitive behavior like this that is making President Obama reason #1.
